Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Agent reports on the allotment of land in severalty on the Southern Ute Reservation as per the Allotment Act of Feb. 8, 1887. Indians raise question of water that will be available to alloted lands. Map of survey done for the reservation cannot be found at agent's office. Ute and Jicarilla Agency Report of Agent in Colorado Report of the Secretary of the Interior Bartholomew delivers his annual report on conditions at the So. Ute agency. He comments on agriculture, which is hampered by the lack of irrigation facilities; education, which has been temporarily halted for lack of a building; marriage practices; gambling; increased demand for white men's clothing; and quality of rations, which he suggests be alloted once a month instead of once a week, since the Utes make a holiday of allotment day and refuse to do their work.
