Lewis School Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs The Supt. discusses issues of jurisdiction over Ute killing in settlement on LaPlata River. The accused were dismissed from District Court, which claimed no authority. Indians living on allotted land considered to be U. S. citizens. Ute Agency Letter to Richard McCloud, Judge, Probate Court, Durango The Supt. intervenes on behalf of Charles Chavez's adoption of Mexican- Navajo child, and asks for legal procedures information.
