Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Page writes of the need to keep promises made in recent agreement, one of which seems to be the payment of money. ( text is difficult to read) Apr. 21, 1881 Price, H., Acting Commissioner Letter to Henry Page, Agent, So. Ute Agency Price sends to Page money ($ 500 ?) due the Southern Ute Indians and asks that it be disbursed, ( text is difficult to read) July 11, 1881 Nichol, Thomas(?) M., Acting Commissioner Letter to Henry Page, Agent, So. Ute Agency Nichol responds to Page's information that the Ute Indians refuse to send any of their children to the Carlisle school because the government has refuse to keep certain promises made under authority of the Ute Commission. Nichol asks to be informed of the specific promises not kept. Oct. (?), 1881 Page, Henry, Agent, So. Ute Agency Letter to Manypenny(?) Page asks when the promised money will be paid to the Utes. He mentions the activities of several members of the Tribe and says " my Indians are seemingly contented" and are endeavoring to keep everything peaceful between themselves and the white settlers. Oct. 3, 1881 Manypenny, George W., Chairman, Ute Commission Letter to Henry Page, Southern Ute Agency Manypenny informs Page that he has learned the money due the Southern Utes has not been paid and |
