Werner Will be informed of Indian water rights as reported by Code. NA/ RG7 5 Apr. 13, 1913 Davis, Chas., Supt., Uintah & Ouray Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Discusses use of interest payments of $ 3,305,257.19 fund, granted to Con. Bands of Ute Indian by Court of Claims on Feb. 13, 1911. He believes per capita payment doesn't aid Utes toward self- supporting status. He examines needs of Utes in Uintah & Ouray, Navajo Springs, and So. Ute agencies, including concerns for efficient housing, tendency toward disease, and economical use of land. Utes would lose preferential water rights by July, 1919, unless allotted lands are cultivated. May 20, 1913 Supt., So. Ute Agency Letter to Chas. Davis, Supt., Uintah & Ouray Agency Supt. favors Davis' plan for use of tribal funds, and details conditions on the reservation, including use of livestock, water rights status, buildings and general projects. The Supt. describes reimbursement system of harvest grain for seed grain, and annuity cash for farm stock and equipment. Jan. 24, 1914 Runke, Walter, Supt., So. Ute Agency Letter to S. A.
