The two men were charged with trafficking of peyote in Utah. Mar. 24, 1938 Lyman, K. R., County Atty, San Juan Letter to Lyle Cutting, Agent, Towaoc Due to Chism's absence, Cutting is requested to notify Harry Wall and Hays Clark of their trial date for dealing in peyote. Lyman suggests informing the tribal chief who " would exert a great deal of effort" in assuring their presence at the trial. Mar. 25, 1938 Kreutzer, E. M., Asst. Range Examiner, Towaoc Letter to K. R. Lyman, County Atty, San Juan Kreutzer informed of Lyman's request on Mar. 29th. He has talked with Ute Mt. chief, Tack House, who assured him that two Utes charges with peyote trafficking will be in Monticello for trial. Oct. 24, 1938 Cutting, L. B., Agent- in- Charge, Ute Mtn. Letter to S. F. Stacher, Con. Ute Agency Cutting discusses concern over Utes' use of Peyote, and states that John Cuthair or Herbert Stacher may be able to determine accurately extent of use at Blanding and at So.
