Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs The agent reports the arrest of Baron Nordenskjold, of Stockholm, Sweden, who is accused of removing and shipping relics from the homes of the ancient cliff dwellers and from burial sites. Ute Agency Letter to Whom It May Concern The bearer of this letter is on his way to Mariano's band, which is settled in McElmo Canyon, with a message from Ignacio and the agent that they are not to cause trouble. Oct. 7, 1891 Bartholomew, C. A., Agent, So. Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs The agent responds to the news that Baron Nordenskjold, who was arrested for taking relics from the So. Ute Reservation, has requested a passport for the Navajo Reservation. The agent advises that the Navajos are not friendly to whites who go on to their land without their permission. Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs The agent reports that a whiskey saloon is about to be established about a half mile from the reservation's northern boundary.
