Ute Agency Official copy of request for information about recent encounters between whites and Indians. Nov. 26, 1885 Tewine (?), P. T., Colonel, 22nd Infantry Letter to Stollsteimer, Indian Agent, Ignacio, Colorado Colonel is investigating letter of complaint and he is checking with the Indian Agent to get his response to the complaints. FRCD/ RG 7 5 December 16, 1886, 1886 Citizens of McElmo, Colorado Letter to Col. Swaine, Commanding Officer, Ft. Lewis The citizens complain of the many depredations committed by the Ute Indians. The white settlers fear for their lives and request aid from " our boys in blue with their gallant commanders." FRCD/ RG 75 Dec. 29, 1886 Swaine, Commanding, Fort Lewis Telegram to Agent Stollsteimer, Ignacio, Co. Swaine informs Stollsteimer that Capt. Irvine has verified the complaints made by white settlers against the Indians. He asks Stollesteimer to arrange to have the Utes returned to the agency. FRCD/ RG 75 Jan. 11, 1887 Swaine, P.
