Ute Agency Annual Reports of the Department of the Interior Knackstedt submits a report, which consists of a summary of agriculture on allotments, the benefits of land in severalty by comparing the conditions of allotees with those in the western reservation, and advice that handling the Indians would be an easier task if the government upheld its treaty obligations. Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs Smith informs the commissioner of the poor condition of the Navajo Springs Indians. He writes that the government has not provided the promised irrigation system and has decreased the provisions as well, leaving these Indians in a desparate situation, with no means to provided food for themselves.
