Cliffs with 2 small coaches and horses at right foreground. Associated text from Albert Tissandier's book Six mois aux États-Unis : voyage d'un touriste dans l'Amérique du nord suivi d'une excursion à Panama (Paris : G. Masson, [1886]), p. 183-184: "Plus loin enfin, le long de la route qui mène à Mammoth hotel, on remarque de hautes murailles d'obsidienne. Ces Obsidian Cliffs, soutenues par des colonnes basaltiques de même nature, ont un aspect intéressant. Dans le parc de Yellowstone il y a beaucoup de ces formations volcaniques, mais ces murailles élevées sont les plus curieux spécimens qu'on puisse voir." |
