Show 1926 Rltonian This is the twentieth Utonian. One purpose burned in the minds of the staff. That goal was to raise the publications' standard of the University, and thereby help it to make another step towards national prominence. Financial limitations prevented any radical changes in the book, although a sales record of twelve hundred and fifty copies established a new target for future staffs. Thirty years ago, in 1896, a new star gleamed on the American flag. That was Utah. It is in commemoration of that event that this issue is known as the Thirtieth Anniversary Number. Seagulls and Sego lilies with costumes of thirty years ago form the motif of all the decorations. Several new features have been introduced -a beauty contest, colored military and fraternity sections, and a "Scrapbook." We have been conservative. Student art work has been used throughout, with the exception of the illustration made by Mr. John Held Jr. Ideas were collected from the Mississippi to the Pacific, and were collaborated into a book that is original from the cover design to the "Finis." The typical college annual cartoons have been eliminated. An unusual division of pages through the center has been introduced. We have tried to keep the engravings uniform and to preserve single and double page balance. The staff has tried to put the old "Utah Fights" spirit into campus activities, by featuring their most colorful sides. Quality rather than quantity has been the watchword. We have tried to be accurate and absolutely unprejudiced. It is only through the cooperation of the student body, the faculty, the photographers, engravers, printers, binders and other friends that the Thirtieth Anniversary Utonian has become a reality.
