Description 105 AN ORDINANCE1, In relation to the timber in the mountains, West of Jordan. PASSED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, JANUARY 3rd, 1851. Sect. Be it ordained bythe ¦ General Azsembly of the State of Deseret, That the exclusive control of the timber m thft Kanyons on the East side of the range of• meVmt-ains West of Jordan, in.Great Salt Like County, is hereby granted to George A. Smith, who is hereby authorized to control the timber in said Kanyons, to work roads into them; and to direct when, where, and by whom, timber may be taken out therefrom Sec. 2. Be it ord lined, that any person getting timber PemdiiM. from s'-iid Kanyons, shall be required to keep the roads clear, and to pay in labor, or otherwise, for the use of the private roads leading to the timber; and any person wasting, burning, 01 otherwise destroying the timber, shall be subject to all damages, and to a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars, at the discretion of the court having jurisdiction. Sec. 3. No person shall be allowed to cut timber in anting timber any place in these Kanyons, without permis-ion from the proprietor, who is hereby authorized to give directions accordingly. Sec. 4. Any person cutting timber or wood in the Power»togr«n above Kanyons, and leaving it on the ground an unreasonable time, the proprietor of sail Kanyops shall have the privilege to remove said wood and timber, and dispose of it; and the avails paid into the Pu' lie Treasu- Sec. 5. Nothing in the above ordinance shall be con-ProyUo. strued as to prevent, or hinder the citizens of said county from getting timber, wood, or poles, in any of said Kan.-yons, for their own use, by observing the above regulations. Approved Jan. 9th, 1851.
