Show Excerpts from the Minutes of the Second General Session May 2, 1957 - President Cheever announced that last fall Mrs. Maud Neeley Leaver appointed by the Board of Directors as Director of the 1958 Regional Conference to be held in Utah. Mrs. Leaver reported that at the 1936 Regional Conference at Lake Tahoe an invitation had been extended by President Grace had been Cheevertf the Utah Federation, to hold the 1958 Regional Conference in Utah, whicn invitation had been accepted, also that in written response to inquiries mailed out to all members of the retiring Board of Directors, the action had been unanimously approved. Mrs. Leaver stated that it is the privilege of the Utah Federation, as state, to suggest the time and place of the Conference, but that the final decision rests with the National officera, who will make the decision at the 1937 National Convention at Atlantic City, and expressed the feeling that hostess suggestion would be approved. reported that $150.00 had been received from the Chairman of the 1936 Regional Conference, representing the balance of funds remaining from that Conference, which will be supplemented by approximately $200.00 from the National Federation, the balance of the expense to be financed by the clubs Utah's Mrs. Leaver in the western region. not be a burden on the Mrs. Leaver stated that the expense of the Conference should clubs, that every effort would be put forth to make the Conference self-sustaining, and that she would work to the best of her ability to She mentioned that in times past it had been customary to or canyons, and reviewed the places where previous Regional Conferences had been held in the western states. Considerable discussion took place on the question, and suggestions were made by members of the Salt Lake City Club that the conference be held in Salt Lake City, offering the cooperation and assistance of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, which suggestions were likewise proffered by members of the Southern Utah Clubs that the Conference be held in one of the parks of Southern Utah, preferably Bryce's, with the cooperation and assistance of the Chambers of Commerce 'of Southern Utah. Consideration was also given by members present as to the desirability of each place respecting accommodations and distance of Mrs. Maud N.
