Our committees and members have co operated wholeheartedly with the officers to make this a most suc cessful club At our first year. board meeting we discussed the' ef ficiency standard in order that our committee chairmen might become acquainted with the program out lined therein and carry it out as it was applicable to our local sit uation. We feel we have been un usually successful in this endeavor as word has just been received from our second vice-president that our club ranked first in percentage score on the efficiency standard rating. (Mrs. Pittman advises that this information is not for publica tion until the awards are made on May 26; but we are so proud of ourselves we must publish it now.) Our programs for the year were outlined in September and printed in our club roster which was is sued in October. We also realize that proper recreational outlets are a vital necessity to wholesome personal ity development. For several years the enlargement of recreational centers for girls has been a major interest of the club, This year we assumed as we did last year, the entire cost of lead ership in night recreational centers for girls. A center was opened in three of our local junior high schools, one in the Civic Center and one in the Y. W. C. A. The Mees sary funds for this enterprise was raised by the finance committee who sponsored on inflation fund drive and a silver tea. We have contributed to the com to the Red Cross, and to the Milk fund of the Family munity chest, Service society, besides taking of individual cases of younger care girls, by providing clothing, books, and jobs whenever possible. All of the clubs of the state were invited to hear Miss Phillips speak in a meet ing, to which the general public was invited, on the topic "Can Nations Be Neighbors?" HAZEL M.
