Allied to M. trucidata, Butler, but differs in having a much narrower band of orange-red on the hind wing; the orange-red band on the fore wing is much broader and widens perceptibly towards the inner margin. The marginal fringe of the fore wing is dotted with white. The underside differs in having the base of the hind wing greyish white spotted with black.
