Of this Neotropical representative of Larus fuscus of our seas there are now living examples in the Society's Gardens from the Falkland Islands and from Chili. They are readily distinguishable from their European allies by their darker mantle and pale flesh-coloured legs. L. dominicanus appears to be a very abundant species on both coasts of South America, from the extreme south up to Southern Brazil on the east, and Peru on the west. Sect. c. CHROOCEPHALUS*.
