Found near Calcutta in winter (Blyth). Indian specimens have the throat and belly white, and have no yellow on the underparts, and represent the bird in the winter dress. A Baikal specimen in breeding-plumage is yellowish beneath with black spots on the breast. A specimen shot in September at Amoy is intermediate. 127. LOCUSTELLA LANCEOLATA, Temm.
