Show Record the channel does not change much, but where there is silt it changes in low water; in high water you don't know where those places are. The small changes occur where the water is still. If a big flood comes down in September there may be a sudden change caused at certain points by such a flood occasioned by torrential rain. It has always been my experience that after the water starts to rise there is a channel in the river if you know where to find it, and after the rise from high water has subsided, the channel will remain pretty much as it was; your channel is then formed for the season, and unless come condition comes that 3337 changes the height of the water, your channel will remain pretty well as it was. Louis M. Chaffin testified on redirect examination as follows: I was at Green River, Utah, about a month ago and have a ranch on the San Rafael located about a mile and a half or two miles from the Green River, to which point I bring supplies over- land. I believe I saw a row boat tied up above the bridge at Green River this summer. Levi Kendrick testified for complainant on direct examination as follows: 3338 I have lived at Green River, Utah, since 1910 and am an oil driller by occupation. I have never done any boating on that 3339 stream except for pleasure in a row boat. I took one row boat trip with Mr. Wolverton, going from his ranch downstream to Three Canyons, located about four or five miles below the Wolverton ranch. On that trip I don't think we encountered any difficulties with sand bars or other obstructions in the river, and I don't think Mr. Wolverton had to get out and push his boat off sand bars. 3340 I don't know of any boats now at Green River but there is a boat down the river at Mr. Bedere's, about six miles below town. I remember a boat called the Marguerite that used to be there on the 462 1580 |
