Show Record would have been necessary to stake the location shown on the map. 2933 The proposed pipe line would have been approximately parallel to the lines shown on Exhibits 464, 464 A and 464 B; but not necessarily identical; it would very as the topography of the country varied. A pipe line can be built where a road cannot be constructed, and we therefore show the route of the road. I never 2936- 2937 made a pipe line survey. I only made a recognizance. I don't recall when the red marks were placed on Exhibit 462; maybe it was some time last year; no, those red marks were made two years ago for the purpose of an estimate on that road, for which I was asked by parties who had gone in there after we had gone in, I then put the red lines on Exhibit 462 from the date I collected in March and February, 1926. I don't remember whether it was last year or the year before last that I put those red marks on 2938 Exhibit 462. The red was put on Exhibit 462 because at that time I didn't need it there. " Cleary P line" doesn't mean Cleary 2939 pipe line. I made an estimate of costs based only on my preliminary survey. The sketch of the pipe line was made before my survey. 2940 We thought it quite important to see whether it was practical to get a pipe line out of that country, but it did not prove to be important. The heavy material had already gone down and the 2944 drilling had already gone forward on the No. 1 Well. I made a recognizance of the pipe line. There was no preliminary survey made for a pipe line, but we did make a preliminary survey for a road. I am not sure whether the Midwest company was one of the defendants in a suit brought by the State of Utah and Texas Oil Company against Shafer and others, including the Midwest company. 2945 The Midwest company relinquished its interest in that section and we stored our equipment. I think the Midwest sold its interest to other companies; it turned them over; I am not sure of the sale. 2946 I do not know the price or the terms of transfer. I know that the Midwest company, either directly or indirectly, owned certain Con- 392 |
