Weber testified for complainant on direct examination as follows: 2624 I live in Hanksville, Utah, and am 64 years old and have 2625 been over a total stretch of about forty- five miles from Dandy Crossing on the Colorado River. I came to Dandy Crossing via 2626 Bluff with a pack outfit and two companions. We stayed on the shore opposite Dandy Crossing over night and next morning were taken across the river by Homer Hite in his boat, leading the ani-mals, then we turned the animals loose on the bar at Hite and went down to Good Hope Bar in the boat. I remained there during the balance of the year 1891 and until about June or July, 1892, and engaged in placer mining. I personally did not use any boats 2627 while there. I saw other men take boats upstream. I know they went up after supplies and came back with supplies, but I did not go on those trips. supplies would be brought overland to Dandy Crossing, where they would be put on skiffs and brought down to 2628 camp. They had a scow about twenty or twenty- two feet long and 2629 seven feet wide, which was used in and about Hanson Creek. I 346 1464 |
