Show Record inhabitants. Outside of Hanksville and Green River, Utah, we saw a few men who were drilling for oil and some half dozen cattle men. We came from Torrey ( located near the source of the Fremont River) on that trip. David E. Rust testified on cross examination as follows: 2281 In arranging these tourist trips there are times when it is convenient for the tourist to go in August or September or October and I try to accommodate him. These parties are conducted down the river by me for compensation. the boat that I spoke of losing was in a sand wave. The men who capsized on the occasion did not follow my boat and that is what they are usually supposed to do . In all my experience on the river I have never had an upset and in all that experience no other member of my party had had an upset except on the one occasion I have referred to when these men did not follow my boat and got into a sand wave. 2283 On that trip Governor Dern of Utah was in my party. I have taken ladies through Glen Canyon on these trips. In July, five years ago, Dr. Frank Ostler of New York and his wife made trip with me; and in August, five years ago, Dr. Proctor of Boston and his wife took the trip with me. My daughter was a member of my party on each of these trip. My daughter does not swim. Member of the parties I take through Glen Canyon on these trips do not wear life preservers. David E. Rust testified on redirect examination as follows: 2284 We usually figure on about five days actual running time for the trip from Crescent Creek to Lee's Ferry, with two of three or four days off for side trips, especially the trip to Rainbow Arch. In response to interrogatories propounded by the Special Master, David E.
