Show (2) Knight Diversion Dam - March 10, 1967, to United Structures, Inc., on bid of $537,335. (3) Starvation Feeder Conduit, tunnel, pipeline, and channel - March 17, 1967, to W. W. Clyde & Co., on bid of $1,250,035. By September 30, 1967, the end of the report period, the contractor for Starvation Dam had stripped the dam foundation, excavated about 80 percent of the cutoff trench and grout cap, drilled the outlet works tunnel, excavated the outlet works chute and stilling basin and commenced installation of anchor bars and placement of concrete in this structure, excavated and placed grout pipe in the spillway intake section, and placed about ten percent of the embankment for the dam. Lining of the outlet works tunnel will be started during November 1967, and carried to completion during the winter. The intake structure, stilling basin, and outlet channel are also scheduled for completion early in 1968 in preparation for diversion of Strawberry River through the outlet works tunnel in the spring. The contractor for Knight Diversion Dam has completed diversion of Duchesne River from the work area and nearly all structure excavation for the diversion dam. Concrete placements have been made for the diversion dam spillway and sluiceway and the heading for Starvation Feeder Conduit heading. All work under the contract is expected to be completed next summer, as scheduled. The contractor for the Starvation Feeder Conduit, tunnel, pipeline, and channel elected to excavate the 7-foot 4-inch diameter, mile-long Starvation tunnel with a Robbins Boring Machine, or "mole." The machine was assembled at the outlet portal and on August 4 was given its first experimental operation. By September 30, 1967, the "mole" had extended the tunnel heading 1,464 feet in 255 hours of operating time. At the present rate of progress the tunnel should be holed through during December, 1967. During October, 1967, the contractor expected to commence excavation for pipe trench and placing the two-thirds mile of 84-inch reinforced concrete pipeline that will convey water from Knight Diversion Dam to Starvation tunnel. All work now under contract is scheduled for completion by November 10, 1968. Work is scheduled to be commenced late in 1967 on the first segments of the Strawberry Aqueduct through which water collected from the high mountain reaches of Duchesne River and its tributaries, and streams tributary to Strawberry River below the existing Strawberry Reservoir, will be conveyed to the proposed enlarged Strawberry Reservoir.
