Show INTERVIEW: Luckinbill and Robertson Page 12 had made arrangements for Pete, you know, he was already, you know, known here in town, to be sure and pick his sister up. GC: Now where did you board the train in New Mexico? RR: In Espanola. GC: In Espanola; and how far is that from Abiquiu? RR: 25 miles. And 25 miles from Santa Fe, it's right in the middle. GC: What route did the train take, do you remember? RR: We came through Salida and Alamosa. N BL: Didn't it go to Antonito, from Espanola to Antonito, and then to Salida ... ? Did you change trains like we used to, did you go on the bus like we used to? RR: We didn't change trains. BL: Well, in later years they had it different, remember? We used to go from Cisco to Salida and get off there and take a bus to Alamosa and get on that train, which was the Chile ~ line, and go to Espanola. Remember? Now did you do it that way the first time? RR: No, I remember changing trains. BL: Then, that's probably what you did, then. RR: Oh, it's so long ago! GC: You started school in, or you graduated, I'm sorry, in 1938. |
