INTERVIEW: Ellis Page 12 to but she ... Dad didn't have too much problems. Dad had a lot of problems with the Mexicans because I think they weren't used to a Puerto Rican coming all this way, you know, and he was speaking Spanish there, and his ways were a little bit differnt, and the Mexicans, they kind of congregated against him more than the white people did, you know and he didn't speak any English at all when he came. He learned it all when he got here, you know, and then they, when he got here he said, "Well, I'm going to prove myself," and he stayed in the bar and we got quite a bit of, quite a bit of Monticello used to be in the Lyon's Club or, what's that group that the one that bought your dad's stove, American Legion president for years and he had a football team, a basketball team, and for about six years he run a boxing team, from like Price and Moab, Monticello, Blanding, he had all these Mexican kids fighting, you know, teaching them how to box, he had really a great, he really did great. And then, but Mother always had a lot of trouble with , but later on in the years, as she got older, I remember when the Depression came on they wouldn't sell them nothing. BE: There's still a little discrimination going around. I remember when you and I were married, when we got married
