Show I TERVIEW: Ellis Page 13 we were up in Salt Lake in, you guys are probably familiar with the Casa Grande? VE: The old one? BE: The old one. We went there for supper one evening, me and Vicki and .. . VE: My brother Bobby .. . BE: Her brother and his wife and her sister, and had a lot of trouble in there because I'm white and she's Spanish, you know, and they didn't appreciate the fact that she was with a white man. VE: That's the first time I've ever heard you talk like that. BE: Well, they gave us a bad time while I was in there, they gave me a bad time while we were in there, and yet, after we walked out, we went to the car after we got finished eating, and there was two Spanish fellows that was walking down the street, well they were a little bit crocked, you know, and they called me a couple of dirty names, and said something about me being with a Spanish girl. Well I understood enough at the time, I'd been married to her long enough that I understood enough to where I thought I knew what they'd said to me, so I turned around and was going back toward them, you know, and she told me, 11Aw, they didn't say nothing to you, they weren't talking to you," |
