Show 1880 TO 1912 O97 assembling of the convention, at a meeting of the republican territorial central committee, the question of the right to seats in the convention by two contesting delegations from Bernalillo county, known as the ‘‘Hubbell’’ and ‘*Gillenwater’’ delegations, was determined in favor of the ‘‘Hubbell”’ delegat ion, ;although the delegation led by Mr. Gillenwater offered to compro mise the difficulty by agreeing to accept one-half a vote each in ‘the ‘convention, and leave the question of party regularity to a county convention afterward to be called for the nomination of county officers. This offer was declined and the ‘‘Hubbell’’ delegation was declared regular and given seats in the convention. On the 28th of September, the convention met and was organized in the interest and by the friends of the candidacy of Holm O. Bursum for the governorship. Strong influences were brought to bear upon the party leaders having in charge Mr. Bursum ’s interests, to dissuade them from jeopardizing the success of the party at the polls by placing his name at the head of the ticket. To no avail, however, and, on the 28th of September, he was nomina ted by a vote of 228 to 75 for Secundino Romero, of San Miguel county. The remainder of the ticket was dictated by the friends of Mr. Bursum.
