The chances for republican success at the polls were brilliant; the situation was well understood by the democratic leaders, who hoped that this condition would prove a disadvantage to their opponents in selecting candidates for their state ticket. The democratic hope was realized. Prior to the general Mp4 election, and shall have the initials of two election officers, of opposite political parties i) a written by them upon the back thereof.
