Show UTO N I ANNineteen TwelveTrack'Varsity TrackTHE track season of 1910 opened with an excellent outlook for a victorious team. Besides a large number of veterans, many new men reported for early training. In fact, the showing of candidates was never better in the whole six years of Coach Maddock's regime. With the exception of "Dad" Convill, Morgan Adams, and two or three others, all the 1909 team had returned to school. These, with a number of high school stars, were expected to make a record-smashing combination.Heading the team was the ever-dependable Sam Brinton. It was his last season on the track. Brinton, Richardson, Swapp, Judd, Erickson, Gutting, C'armichael, and Roskelly rrom B. Y. C, showed up in good condition. Among the new men, Cole looked like a good man in the distance races, while Belnap, the crack Ogden High School hurdler, gave the promise of being one of the best men in the State in his event. Stone and Holmstead were running strong in the quarter-mile and Soule and Labrum showed good form in the broad and high jumps, respectively.In a dual meet with B. Y. XL, our men took nearly two-thirds of the points. Capt. Brinton won both his events with ease. The surprise of the day was the feat of Labrum, who beat the renowned Baird in the high jump.
