Show UTO NIANNineteen TwelveU. of U.! 13!! 13!!WELL, listen, what have we here? Again comes news of "those Sophomores." Casting all dignity aside until we shall don our Senior crepe and mortarboards, we here indulge in some unconventional free-for-all brag. How it delights us to begin with our victorious flag-rush-that thorn-in-the-flesh of the "enemy." This annual "scrap" is the first dose of "college spirit' tonic taken by every Freshman class. We shook the bottle well, held their noses, and gave them a good tablespoonful, incidentally breaking the University record as the firstSophs, to come out ahead. Nine rahs for--------what? Football? Well, I guesswe did! The records for the 1910 season tally up six Sophomores, all-stars, too. Pretty good, eh?And basketball! Lieber Himmel! Was thun wir da! Speaking English, recollect those five mighty 'Varsity men we produced this year? Whirlwinds all of 'em. The Chronicle and Dramatic Club also bear decided traces of the thir-teens . (Ye superstitious, it's no unlucky number, either.)As to sustaining college spirit-we've at least done our duty by the Freshmen. Burnt ticket stands and frustrated schemes for class pictures-tin real estate signs testify to this. And the Freshmen have been "game.'' "Nuf sed." We end with a toast to all:Spirit of college, be with us yet, Lest we forget-lest we regret .72 |
