Show U TO N I A NNineteen TwelveKindergartenTHOUGH small, the Kindergarten Department is full of purpose, and consequently an important factor in the upbuilding of the University and in the maintaining of its standards.Socially, the department is a leader. Because of the continued success of its functions, the annual party is looked forward to as one of the big events of the year. Without doubt, it is one of the most enjoyable entertainments listed in the University's calendar. It is one of those few parties at which one may throw off that ever-growing mask of formality and enjoy the pranks and frolics of childhood- And it is this characteristic genuineness and reality of existence which insures the success of the department for years to come-socially, or in other ways.In contrast to some other courses in the University, Kindergarten does not consist chiefly of an acquisition of facts, but it calls for actual experience; for application of knowledge. The course is consequently broadening, and brings that practical intimacy with the common things, thus following those lines which lead to that infinitely distant ideal education.S6 |
