Show UTONIANNineteen TwelveBarristers' Club"GlIVE me a book and let me grind." If the average student were asked to indite a motto for the Barristers he would very likely make it the above. It is true, indeed, that the Barristers are exceptionally studious, but why should it not be so? Is not law the "perfection of human wisdom" which is not easily acquired? We are deserving of more credit for college spirit, however, than is generally accorded us. Isolated as we are from the rest of the student body; denied the inspiration that comes from looking into the eyes of the fair Co-Ed, with the concomitant phenomena of fussing, strolling on the campus, etc., would it be at all surprising if our college spirit could only be detected by the aid of a most powerful microscope? Yet in spite of these drawbacks we make a pretty good showing of loyalty, for we have more than a proportional representation in all student activities. The Barristers' Club has done several notable things during the year. It has petitioned the Board of Regents for many things. It has conducted a very profitable series of lectures on law subjects outside the regular courses and has adopted a club pin. However, the chances of the Barristers' Club as a permanent organization appear none too certain, but we'll venture a guess that it will be at least as stable as the law department.100 |
