Show Nineteen TwelveU TO NIA NSenior PrideI wonder who's doing things now,I wonder who's making the row,I wonder who's keeping the U awake,The fuss they make, all records break,I wonder who's doing the things,About which the dear old U rings,"I wonder if they are the Seniors?" folks say,I wonder who's doing things now.WE WOULD not boast, but we cannot suppress a feeling of pride when the honor of "doing things" is justly attributed to the class of 1911. We have been doing ever since our first green days at the U. Our activity has not been aimless effort, through sun and shadow we have stood together, demanding and achieving success. In our Freshman and Sophomore years we gradually worked up to our great attainment, the Junior Prom. Ours is the first and only class that has ever cleared money on that stupendous social undertaking. We can truly plume ourselves the "Beacon Lights'' of this ideal "Mount of Zion."Success did not desert us in our Senior year. Though the elements combined against us on the night of our Senior dance, though the rain streamed down in torrents, yet when the strains of the first waltz sounded, floor space was at a premium One hundred and seventy-five rouples swayed and whirled giddily until midnight. Our Senior Chapel day was an unparalleled event. Instead of a bare, unsightly hall, we provided for chapel-goers a fragrant room artistically decorated with flags and palms. Departing from the formal punch of our predecessors, we served our guests daintily with cake and ice cream, moulded in our class colors. So much for what we have done and are doing. We are not yet ready to cease- Many classes in leaving the institution have promised to bestow upon it a gift, a lasting memento. But out of sight was out of mind. As we have proved in the past, what we promise, we fulfill. June's sunshine will reflect in the clear healthful waters of a beautiful fountain, the legacy of the 191 l's to the U.19 |
