Q After you got to the Cataracts, then where did you go? were just examining for such distance as we thought it would be safe to go and get back. We went down to what is called, or what we called the eleventh rapid. We decided it would be a pretty hard trip to get back, and we left our boats there. Q Where? A At this eleventh rapid, Q You did what with the boat s? A Left them there, and went on afoot, down the river for a day; we traveled down as far as we could go, until about our boats, and we left the scow there, loaded our outfit -- we were pretty light, - loaded our outfit in the boat and started back up the river to work our way through the rapids.
