If Mr. Eddy, on his trip down the river, carried a map which had been furnished him by Mr. Kolb, or a list of the soundings, or any other information in connection with that river, that document certainly would have been admissible. THE SPECIAL MASTER: Admissible for what purpose? not to prove the facts contained on the map, would it? MR. BLACKAMAR: Not to show the facts contained upon the map, but naturally the facts which are contained upon the map would be considered in connection with all the other facts and circumstances in the case. That is the only possible theory upon which I think the Kolb book is admissible. I think there is also some testimony in the case that this book of Mr. Kolb is maintained in the Department of the Interior, in their library, as a book of reference in connec-tion with the Colorado river. Of course, it is of recent origin, and does not stand upon the same basis as the Dellenbaugh books. As to Eddy book, of course the Eddy book was right |
