Q Could you tell me the approximate date which you hit the Colorado river? A It was some time in the latter part of October or the first of November. Q How did you get these boats up stream? A Well, we rowed and towed and lines; went by what seemed the most convenient way we could. Q During the progress of your trip through the San Juan, do you recall whether or not you portaged your supplies at any point? MR. FARNSWORTH: He has answered that. MR. BLACKMAR: He said he lined them. A The Piute rapid we portaged our stuff around, a large part of it, also at this unnamed rapid below. BY MR.
