Q And then when you started down the river with four boats they were pretty heavily loaded with supplies, were they not? A Yes, fairly well; and our machinery, our equipment, you know; we had a little machine frame, a gear and equipment. Q What size load did you have in those boats, if you can give us just an approximation? A We figured all of our material we had on the larger boat would weigh about a ton; the machine equipment would probably weigh seven or eight hundred pounds, eight or nine hundred. Q Do I understand you had about a ton on the large boat? A On the large boat nearly a ton. Q And, of course, the small boats had a less load? A Yes. Q When you went down the Colorado in August or September, 1907, I believe you stated that there was some rapid water right at Castle creek? |
