Show 5542 3552 As I have view the situation upon the Eddy book, if it has any standing in this court at all, it has a standing on the basis that Mr. Eddy has attained a sufficient position on a geographer and historian of the Colorado river that whatever he has written in the book at least is to be considered as probative. I do not see nor either one of these books would in any way encumber the record or in any way hurt. If there is anything in these books that is good, that should be considered, them in evidence, would have a right to refer to them and con-sider what is in them. I will say to your Honor that the status of those two books, as far as my mind is concerned, is not nearly as clear as it is upon the others. The Eddy book as I read it has some features of descriptive writing which are entertaining, whether or not they rise to the dignity of an authoritative work, I am perfectly frank to say, I am not at all sure in my own mind. MR. FARNSWORTH: It is your view that would depend on a matter of style? |
