Leagues 698^. writers to Cereus gigonteus, and that each is also used of differ­ent species. Thus the author of the Rudo Ensayo, p. 149, uses " pitahaya " of a small Sonora cactus, with " stalks as thick as a large wax taper/' evidently not meaning the giant cactus; and adds on the next page that the " saguaro" is larger, and found only in the highlands of the Pimas.
