It wou \d swell this treatise to an inconvenient size to enumerate the various towns of '"'est New-York, or, as is more generally known "Geuesee count':Y ." l.t will be suffic~ent to observe, that it is amon~ the most produc 1ve regwns of the Umted States. It abounds in two of tue most useful of minerals, salt and gypsum. Onondago county seems to be the centre of these minerals, so pre-cious to the people of the country wluue found, and also to the adjacent stateR. Immense sums are annualJy saved to the people of the state of New-York from the sale of their surplus salt; gypsum is now also becoming an object of commerce by the channel of the Aleghany rivers.
