Your petitioner sets forth, that, having a family of twenty whites, possessing forty iJaves, with a quantity of cattle, he wishes to form an establishment upon the waters of the Mermentau river; prays your ExceJJency to grant him, in the name of lais Majesty, the King of Spain, whom God long pteserve, forty arpents of land, with the ordinary depth, &c. extending from Pointe L'Ouest, 11p the river.
