Show Local Health District Key Health Indicators Southwest Utah Health Department Compiled by Erin Maughan and Sally Burns Counties: Beaver, Iron, Washington, Garfield, Kane Population Size: 140,919 Area: 17,370 square miles The Southwest UtahHealth Department (SWHD) is the sixth largest health district in population, and the largest in area. The health indicators listed for the year 2001 show that SWHD's averages are more favorable than the overall state averages for tobacco use, immunizations and low birth weight infants. The percentage of the population in SWHD with no insurance coverage appears to be climbing. After a three year decline in adult obesity, SWHD experienced an increase. No Health Insurance Figure 3.
