This is primarily explained by their being more likely to be married, have early stage disease, have less comorbid cancer, and treated with radical prostatectomy. However, the mediating influence of these factors is insufficient to explain poorer survival among religiously less active LDS. Higher levels of cigarette smoking may play a role, but did not appear to have a strong influence on non-LDS. Lower levels of physical activity, education, and social support beyond marriage were implicated, but require verification through analytic epidemiologic studies. REFERENCES 1.
