Show Local Health District Key Health Indicators Salt Lake Valley Health Department Compiled by Erin Maughan and Sally Burns Counties: Salt Lake Population Size: 898,387 Area: 764 square miles The Salt Lake Valley Health Department (SLVHD) is the largest health district in population, and the second smallest in area. The health indicators listed for the year 2001 show that SLVHD averages are more favorable than the overall state averages for immunizations. Although tobacco use is somewhat higher in SLVHD than the state average, it falls well below the national average. Obesity rates and lack of health insurance are similar to the rest of the state. Low birth weight infant rates are slightly higher than the state average. Immunization Rates Figure 1. Percentage of children fully immunized by 24 months of age, SLVHD and Utah, 1998-2001.
