Wifdom and Knowledge Friendfhip does require, The firft for Counfel, this for Company j And though not mainly, yet w e may defire Both complaifance and Ingenuity. Though evry thing may love, yet 'tis a Rule, H e cannot be a Friend that is a Fool. 10. Difcretion ufes Parts, and belt knows how; And Patience will all Qualities commend : That ferves a need belt, but this doth allow The WeaknefTes and Paffions of a Friend. W e are not yet come to the Quire above: W h o cannot Pardon here, can never Love. Thick Waters fhew no Images of things: ^ Friends are each others Mirrours, and fhould be Clearer than Cryftal or the Mountain Spring And free from Clouds, Defign or Flattery. Of Friends he doth the Benefactor prove, That gives his Friend the means t* exprefs'his Love.
