Having been in charge of this agency a little over one year I trust I can speak advisedly upon some of the lealling ohnraoteristics of these ~ddiansa, nd muet say that they, as a tribe, are yet low in the soale of oiviliaation. This may be accouuted for, not by nny unusual inaptitude of their natures, but by the fact that no missiun-ary efforts have ever been made amo1l.g them, nor have tho schools heretofore main-tained heen eo~~duc t srrdi th or been glve-en any distinctive religious character.
