Show This report and the "orders of agreement:' accompanying it mere approved October 27, 1890, and authority granted for the appointment of s superintendent and an assistmnt superintendent of logging, as pro-vided forin the flrst secttion of the act, who together wibh tlie agent were directed to submit rules for the government of,the logging busineas. These rules, prepared at the agency, revised by this office, and ap-proved by the Department Jannsry 7: 1891, are as follows: First. That Agent Relsey, with the assistauoe of the snperiutendent and assists:~ superiuteudent, enter into agreements with such of theMenomonees a$ desire to en-gage inlogging, aud are eblo to do so, to pay a aertsin prioe for pine timbar on the river banka Second. Each contraotor or boss of squad to be paid a, rate to he agreed upon for cutting and bauking timber in consideration of all the conditions nuder whioh his timber issituated and the ease or dimculty which may be espeeted to attend its bsnking, said price in no case, however, to exceed $5 per thousand feet. Fdurth. That at the end of each month one-half of the amount fouod doe to eaoh contraator by a, computation of tho nomber of feet of logs he sod his squad have banked during said month, at the ratos named in the several laxreements, be paid to said oontrsotors and that the other half be retained as security for pay of the laborers. Fifth. That a, final ~rttlemonbt e made with the contreatoranext spring, when tho logging is over for the season and the lagging camps break up ; that ;at the same time the aontraators be required to pay the 1aborel.s (their sssistants) in full stroll bdaooes as may still be due for waxes, and that eaoh contractor biml himself in the agreement above referred to to so pay his laborers at that time; Sixth. That a fair, reasonable, ancl "usual rate of wages be named iu said agree-ments to be paid by the oontrnalors to eaoh member of their sqnsds, and that monthly statements be prepared by the oontraotors, with the sasivtenoe and under the supervision of the superintendents of logging, and delivered to the agent, show-ing exactly hov much iadue to esoh laborer at the end of each month. That the soidlers and their. assistants be employed by the agent (after consultstion with the an~erintendents)a nd aid t.hronnh him, and ths t he be re-qoirid to take such meha as may he oeoeasari to keep n correct record of their sew-ices thst he may swnar to the same, as required by law. Twelfth.
