Historical Overview Although the engineering database (Infra) provides a construction date of 1970 for the Oil/Gas Shed (#0332), it is clearly much older and may date to the CCC era (c.1936). The wood-framed, 4' x 5' structure has corrugated metal siding and a shed roof. It may be the building that appears in a 1961 photo of the bam. Its size and red paint suggests it may have served as a fire tool cache at some point. When a new flammable storage building was constructed in 2003, the shed was moved from near the southeast comer of the warehouse to its current location southwest of the warehouse. Eligibility Justification The oil/gas shed is clearly historic and likely dates to the CCC construction period. It has a high degree of integrity. Page 3 |
