Comments!Alterations Exterior: stair added to east and south facades; X-braced panelled door replaced hayloft doors in south gable end; one of the 4-pane windows in the north gable end now has 2 panes; composition shingle roofing (after 2004) Interior: horse stalls replaced with small storage rooms that have 5-panel wood doors (likely historic and re-used) Historical Overview The CCC likely helped build the R4 Plan 11 horse barn (#0305, formerly #1308), which cost $2,151 when completed in 1936. An exterior stair on the south was added in 1963 and replaced in 2004. By 1966, engineering records referred to the building as a "Bam-Warehouse," suggesting its horse stalls had been removed by then. Eligibility Justification Despite some alterations, the bam retains most of its character-defining features and reflects the agricultural use for which it was built. It is a I contributing resource within the site's historic district boundaries. Page 3 |
