Department of Agriculture Forest Service - Region 4 ITEM 07401 - ALUMINUM SIDING 07401.01 Description - Perform all work necessary and required to install new aluminum siding, fascia, and soffit over the existing siding, fascia, and soffit, as shown on the drawings and specified herein. Such work includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the removal of wood drip molding and installation of aluminum siding, fascia, and soffit. The intent is to cover with aluminum all wood on the dwelling, except roofing and wood porch posts. 07401.02 Product Handling - All materials shall be delivered, stored, handled, and installed so as not to be damaged or deformed. Siding shall be stored on end. Material shall be stored under a suitable covering to provide a weathertight enclosure. Material shall not be allowed to come in contact with other ingredients that will cause staining nor placed where condensation may be trapped between the sheets. PRODUCTS 07401.03 Materials A. Aluminum shall be as manufactured by Alcoa Building Products, Inc., Alsco Anaconda Inc., or an approved equal. 1. Siding shall be horizontal, 8-inch wide, with outside corner caps for individual siding courses or outside corner post treatment. 2. Metal trim shall be plain sheet. 3. Finish shall be smooth or embossed with wood grain. All fascia and aluminum sill cover material shall be smooth. 4. Color shall be white. 5. Thickness shall be at least .019 inches. Horizontal siding shall be backed with polystyrene insulation (a minimum of 7/l6-inch thick) bonded to the siding. A loose backing board can be used providing at least .024inch siding is used. 07401-1 |
