Show 0 0 C E J\J T O JJ.\ LO C:i UE ( The Utah Museum of Fine Arts A Message from the Curator It was a wonderful experience to watch all the Docents teaching during the time I was doing evaluations. Often in the field of Museum Education we rely on our instincts without substantiating what we know. So it was enriching to have my opinion that the Docents were a professional and effective group of communicators .affirmed by objective measurements. DOCENT MEETING The Docent Meet4ng for April will be on the 15th when we will be going on our field trip to Springville. This will be a combined trip with the volunteers from other areas of the Museum and staff. Vern Swanson, the Director of the Springville Museum of Art, will speak to us on the annual exhibition of Utah artists' work at 11 :00 a.m. and we will have a box lunch afterwards. The cost will be $12.50 for the bus and a box lunch or $7.50 for the boxed lunch if you prefer to car pool. Please come into the Educational Services office as soon as possible and let us know if ~ou will be coming or mail in your check. ~ Invitation to Join MIC ( Would you like to get in on the ground floor by working with students before they come to the Museum? Museum in the Classroom is looking for additional docents to do classroom presentations. This coming year the presentations will be based upon the elements of art and art mediums. Working in the classroom is exciting and very different from Museum touring. Please talk to Ann if you'd like to join the group. j April, 1993 rsi-EERING COMMITTEE MEETIN~ The Steering Committee will meet at 11 :45 ~ - on April 8. ~ A CALL FOR COLLEGE TEAM DOCENTS The College Team is looking for new members for next year. If you are interested in working with high school and college audiences in any of these areas: Middle Ages Renaissance Chinese/Japanese Greek African Oceania Pre-Columbian Modern Art Please contact Betsy Quintana or Helen Fairchild. Plan on attending our next meeting on Monday, May 10, 1993 at 1 :00 p.m. when we will hear from Bizzi Drinkaus on the utilitarian functions of African Art ANNUAL SPRING LUNCHEON Our annual luncheon will be on May 27. The Country Club is the location and the menu worked out by Emmaruth Keyser, Pat Boyd and Barbara Ostler promises to be delectable. Further details will be sent in the May Docent Dialogue. RECRUITMENT TEA Invitations are available on the Docent table at the foot of the spiral stairs for our Recruitment Tea on April 29th at 2:00 p.m. Please take an invitation to give to a friend whom you think might be interested in joining the Docents. |
