Show November 2, 1992 a docent workshop was~ held with Bruce Hucko in preparation for "Have You Ever Seen A Rainbow At Night" exhibition. November 2-5 Bruce Hucko conducted tours for the exhibition. Docents observed Hucko working with the children. January 19 and 20, 1993 Team meetings to prepare for winter and spring tours. Teaching objectives based upon the materials artists use. February 12, 1993 a mid-year enrichment program was held on for all Museum volunteers. Charles Loving, Assistant Director of the UMFA, discussed the Manual Alvarez Bravo photographs. Bernadette Brown, Director of Education Services, discussed the paintings of John Nieto. SPECIAL ACTIVITIES: A workshop for teachers from the Wasatch Front sponsored by the UMFA and NHM was held on October 16 and 17 and on November 3,1992 in connection with "Have You Ever Seen A Rainbow At Night". A Photography Workshop sponsored by American Express on the Bravo Exhibition was held on February 6, 1993 for high school teachers. Docents were encouraged to attend. ( A docent tour of Steven Goldsmith sculptures was held on September 10, 1992. Docents visited sculptural sites designed by Steven Goldsmith. Sites visited were Courtyard on Pierpont, Pierpont Walkway, Salt Lake Community College, Liberty Park, Pioneer Children's Hospital, and Jane Gile's Garden. The tour concluded with wine, cheese, mineral waters, and conversation with the artist. Steven Goldsmith and Phillips Gallery were the hosts. The Museum's annual holiday party was held in the Museum December 5, 1992. All Salt Lake City schools fourth grades students and families plus children of Museum members were invited. The Rainbow Exhibition and entertainment by American Indians were highlights of the party. Children decorated the Museum tree with miniature Navajo rugs. The Guadalupe School Art Program was organized by Judy Shrontz. The program provided children of the Hispanic community a chance to learn about art and work with the elements of art in the creation of their own expressive art works. They visited the Museum on January 16, 1993 for a special Guadelupe School-family day program where they had the opportunity to meet the artist John Nieto. / The Docent Holiday Luncheon was held at l'Hermitage on December 10, 1992. |
